Our artists…

Cheryl Jenkins B.A. (Hons) – MIoEE

After finishing my fine art degree I went on to set up and run an art dept in a high street store, working on occasion as a freelance designer and illustrator. At this time I was a practising artist, exhibiting and selling prints, paintings and sculpture on a regular basis. In 1994 I started a business designing and making unique cards and giftware, supplying stores such as John Lewis and American chain store Papyrus.

I became interested in tattooing in 1999, drawn to the freedom of creating new images on a daily basis and how they can translate into body art.

As the founder of the studios, I have worked to make them comfortable, friendly places to visit, and to give the best service to our customers.

My aim is to encourage people to think around the stereotypical subjects and Firefly be a place you can customise and realise the possibilities for a design.

I’m excited to introduce treatments such as permanent makeup, laser tattoo removal and paintings, prints and other artwork available to keep Firefly evolving and exciting as a specialist studio.

Steph Forbes

After working as a designer for gothic company ‘Alchemy’ for several years, Steph decided to give her work another dimension by joining the world of tattooing.

Her background in greyscale and alternative imagery lent itself perfectly to her new career, in which she has now served several years producing dramatic and eye catching pieces.

Justine Woolley B.A (Hons)

Justine has very diverse artistic talents. After majoring in furniture design she achieved success in this field almost immediately, having a design chosen to be mass produced by a prestigious manufacturer. She also sidelines in hand painting of canal boats, which she has done for many years before turning her hand to the art of tattooing.

Koti has applied herself to many aspects of art and craft, mostly drawing with graphite, glass/silk painting to sewing, felling and needle work.

She began her tattoo career in 2011. Loving the transformation of cover up tattoo’s and working with colours. She is also certified in permanent makeup treatment, adding another exciting element to our diverse team of artists.

Dale Tyers B.A(Hons)

Dale became interested in following a career in tattooing several years ago, but decided to take time to do his degree in Fine Art. After achieving a first degree honours, he has returned to find his path as a tattoo artist, where he has already developed his own style through his love of simple but perfect linear designs, and intricate dot work shading.
